Redefining the "New Year, New Me" Concept

New year, new me!

Sound familiar? At the end of every year and at the start of a brand new one we see hope. We see a chance to make a change in our life. We see the beginning of a new chapter. Now that we are in the third week of the new year, where do you stand?

Some of us have been successful in beginning to reach our goals, while majority are likely stuck in the same old routine; thinking about the changes we long to make. According to an Ipsos poll completed at the end of 2015, three in 10 (31%) Canadians set New Year's resolutions; however, three quarters (73%) of these people break them. This does not have to be the case. Whether your New Year's resolution is to get in shape, quit smoking, be more productive or any change you're yearning to make, all you need is motivation and baby steps to get you started and keep you going.

Don't sit around your pyjamas thinking about what the 'new you' would be like...take action and start the transition! Getting started is always the hardest part so let's keep it simple. Try writing a journal with all the positive impacts your resolution will make on your life. Outlining the positives is great motivation. Next, create a plan - using baby steps - that will help get you on the right track to success. If you have the right mindset and make a little change every day, you will be amazed with what your body and mind are able to achieve. Finding a friend or family member with the same goals as your own will allow you to stay on track. While you are both striving to reach your goal, you will push each other to never give up.

Making a change in your life is beneficial in a number of ways. It will teach you self-motivation and patience. It will show you that you are capable of greatness if you put your best foot forward. It will lead to a positive mindset which will ultimately lead to a positive outlook on life. You will remind yourself to live your life to the fullest, to be who you want to be and do what you want to do.

Use this new year to be a better you. Create success, find happiness and celebrate every chance you get!
