Wedding Trends for 2017

With Spring approaching we start to prepare for the rainy season, wait the arrival of the blooming flowers, put our winter coats in hiding and start pulling out our chic jean jacket and our favourite pair of sneakers you've been dying to wear all winter. With the arrival of Spring comes Alyssa and Co. Events favourite time of year, wedding seasons!

Every year everyone wants to change things up from what was done over and over again the previous year. They want to create something new, a new atmosphere, new styles, and ultimately what will become new trends.

The trends for 2017 are something that we at Alyssa & Co Events are very excited about. These trends are things that we have envisioned and worked with during past and current events.

Vintage

Vintage weddings are becoming a huge trend and we absolutely cannot wait. Vintage themes gives you room for a lot of choices allowing you to add uniqueness and personality while still keeping it simple and beautiful. A vintage theme can get very playful when you start to make choices about the venue, décor and attire for the day.

When looking at vintage venue ideas turning a barn or garden into a place out of a fairy-tale is

becoming a very popular choice. The wooden surrounding of the barn with the use of some vintage décor can make for a beautiful yet simple sight, allowing the bride and groom to stand out and not get washed away in the midst of an overly decorated and flashy venue. The garden venue option is very elegant and vintage as well. With a touch of the outdoor greenery, trees, florals and natural sunlight all you have to do is add some wooden chairs and a grand wooden arch where the bride and groom stand to exchange their vows.

The décor is when it gets exciting. The use of hanging lights, barrels, lanterns, candles, mason jars, wicker or wooden tables, baskets and stands are all simple ways to add to the theme while keeping rustic and elegant feel. Something that Alyssa and Co Events has always loved using in

addition to the above décor ideas is a wooden board with a string and clothes pins as the guest board with the seating charts. The décor is something that can be played around with depending on the personality and style of every bride and groom, the options are endless!

As for the attire, we will keep it short and simple. Lace, lace, lace for the ladies! As for the gentlemen, if they want to keep that vintage look they can use suspenders, vests, or bowties.

Colour Schemes

Neutral colour schemes are the next big thing in the wedding world. Browns, white, blush, dusty blues and taupe are all becoming the go-to colours. These colour schemes work very well if you are going with the vintage theme as the brown wooden pieces, white lace and greenery from the floral pieces with all fit in.

Metallic accents are a very in to go with this neutral theme is something that will add to the elegance of the room while giving it a pop. Gold, rose-gold, pewter and copper are being used in menus, invitations, centerpieces and cakes for a shine to the overall wedding.

What Else?

With the advance technology has taken it would be hard to believe that people aren't taking advantage of all it has to offer. One of the most popular is the comeback of the photo booth. People love the idea of taking photos with fun props which they can away with them right away. A new addition to the photo booth is a technology that allows you to send the photos right to your phone for instant social media updates. This goes hand in hand with the next popular trend. SnapChat filters and hashtags are being created for the day of the wedding to add a fun audience engagement. Photos are the one of the most important parts of a wedding because it allows the bride and groom to remember one of the best days of their lives, so you want them to be as fun and creative as possible. Drones are an excellent way to take those aerial group shots through a drone that can be controlled through one's smartphone.
