12 Pre-Wedding Beauty Tips for the Soon to be Mrs.

On your wedding day all eyes fall on you. It is your special day and you are the star of the show. As planning a wedding can be very stressful, especially on the bride, it can be very easy to forget one of the most important things to do such as taking care of yourself! As a way to help keep you on track of some beauty tips to ensure you glow on your big day, here are some 12 Pre-Wedding beauty tips to follow!

1. CTM (Cleansing, Toning and Moisturizing)

Cleansing, toning and moisturizing is something that should be part of your regular daily routine. This is to help keep your skin youthful, clean and glowing. After you cleanse your face, it will help keep your pores open allowing your skin to breathe easier. Once your face is nice and clean, follow up with toner to help reduce any fine lines and tighten the pores. After toning, use moisturizer to lock in the moisture in your pores to help keep your skin nice and soft.

Ps. make sure to apply sunscreen after moisturizer (or in your moisturizer) as it helps protect your face from sunlight.

2. Exfoliation

This step is extremely important. Exfoliation is the best way to keep your skin nice and clean. It ensures that your skin is free from any dead cells and black heads. It is best to exfoliate your skin two to three times a week, before using a face wash. Ensure that you are using a mild face wash, as a harsh one can irritate your skin and leave you with rashes.

Tip: You can use a homemade scrub made of rice flour or whole wheat flour, or a mixture of both to exfoliate the skin.

3. Facial and Hair Spa

Professionals say that it is best to start getting monthly facials from at least 6 months before the wedding. The facials will allow your skin to keep a constant glow, as well as keeping your pores nice and clean. Always ask for a patch test before applying any new products to your skin!!! This is to best ensure that the products do not react negatively with your skin.

For healthy and shiny hair, it is best to start getting hair treatments at least 6 months before the wedding. This is to ensure that your hair is nice and healthy for the best results on the day of. If you do not wish to go to the salon for hair treatments, there are plenty of at home hair masks that can be used to get some shine in your hair. It is best to get trims every few weeks, as well as trying any new hair colours months in advance in case it is not what you like. This is to ensure that you are cutting all dead ends and keeping your hair nice and healthy allowing it to grow. Do colour or fix roots 2 weeks before your wedding date, as this allows the colour to properly set and have a more natural look for the day of.

Tip: Moroccan Oil Hair Mask is an amazing hair mask that can be used in the shower for 3-5 minutes after shampoo!

4. Clinical Sittings and Homemade Treatments

Now is your time to fix any marks or spots on your skin. For example, patchy skin, sunburns, and pigmentation. You can reach out to your dermatologist to see what the best ways to fix any scars or blemishes that can be done 6 months prior to wedding. This is to ensure that you are 100% happy with your skin and feel great on your wedding day.

For best results, to ensure you are keeping your glow, once a week do any face mask of your choice (that works with your skin).

5. Hands and Feet

Before bed massage olive oil on your hands and feet and give them a little massage. This it to get rid of any dry skin leaving your hands and feet nice and smooth. When showering or taking a bath, make sure to use a Pumice Stone on your feet to leave them nice and smooth. Pumice Stone's can be found at Walmart.ca for less than $10. An alternative to a Pumice Stone would be any rough exfoliator such as a loofah sponge.

One thing that is a must is maintaining your hands and feet clean and polished by doing monthly manicure and pedicures. Not only does it give an added appeal to your look, but it also makes you feel good and is super healthy for your nails.

6. Hair Removal

Who doesn't love smooth legs and fresh eyebrows? I know I do! Hair removal is extremely important. Keep your eyebrows in shape! Whichever process you use for hair removal, stick with what you know and keep doing that. Maintain that by either bi-weekly or monthly, whichever you normally do for best results.

7. Gym

DO NOT crash diet or have an aggressive gym schedule 1-2 months before the wedding. That will wear you down and make you very grumpy and look tired. For a toned figure, consult a dietitian and a personal trainer to get the best results. It is best to start working out 4 months prior to the wedding to achieve effective weight loss (especially in problem areas like tummy and thighs).

8. Meditate

A good way to keep your stress levels low is to meditate for at least 15 minutes a day. This will allow you to feel calm. It is best to think happy times and positive thoughts. If you are not into meditation, I recommend doing something for 15 minutes that keeps you calm and stress free. This is to ensure that the entire planning process and wedding day feel like a breeze.

9. Diet

Drinking lots of water is absolutely great!!! Keep yourself hydrated. Aim for at least 8-10 glasses of water a day as this will help keep your body toxin-free. You may also opt for coconut water or lime/lemon water to help shed any bloating. It is best to eat a balanced diet consisting of fruits, green vegetables and protein. One of the best ways to ensure that you are keeping track of what you are eating and drinking is to download a calorie tracker/ journal. (MyFitnessPal is a free app that is absolutely amazing and sends you a reminder if you have forgotten to track what you ate).

AVOID: junk food (leads to bloating and skin problems)!!!

It is okay to have a few cheat days, but do keep them in check as you do not want to go overboard.

10. Sleep

This is one of the most important tips. Sleep is a MUST before the wedding. If you have lack of sleep it can definitely leave you with dark circles under your eyes, which is not a good look. It is advised to sleep at least 8-10 hours a day for the best results.

11. Spa and Massage

This is not necessary as a beauty tip, but it is a good bonus at helping keep you stress free. Take some time for yourself and go to the Spa and treat yourself to a Massage! After all the wedding planning.... you deserve it girl!

12. Maintaining the Glow

Just because your wedding has finished, does not mean your beauty regime has to! After all there is no time frame on looking gorgeous. You can opt in for doing simple at home remedies to aid you in the process of maintaining the "new bride glow".

Some important tips to remember:

- do not skip meals!!!!

- do not tweeze your eyebrows on your wedding day!!!

- try to avoid using any untried facial products on your wedding day!!!

By following these simple tips, you will feel and look your absolute best. No only will you look like a million bucks, but you will feel like it too.
